The Videocon Z55 Dash has been unveiled by the brand and will retail exclusively through e-commerce site Flipkart for Rs 6490. It’s the latest addition to the company’s lineup of affordable smartphones and was designed under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The handset has decent specs for an entry-level device. It sports a 5-inch IPS 720p screen protected by Dragontrail X Glass. Daily processes are powered by a 2200mAh battery and a 1.4GHz octa-core processor. In terms of memory, the Videocon Z55 Dash contains 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB through a microSD card.
The dual-SIM Videocon phone carries an 8MP autofocus main camera with LED flash, Corning Glass and dual anti-reflective coating. Selfies can be snapped through its 5MP front-facing snapper. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, microUSB 2.0 and A-GPS.

Videocon is offering a free 90-day subscription of its V-Secure antivirus app with the device. The handset also comes pre-loaded with the manufacturer’s V-Safe tool, to be used in emergency situations when trying to contact family and friends. As far as competition goes, the Z55 Dash will be up against phones such as the Canvas Xpress 2 and the Yuphoria.
The Micromax smartphone is cheaper at Rs 5999 and possesses similar specs except for its 13MP main lens and 2500mAh battery. The Yu device is more expensive at Rs 6999 but comes with 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, a 2230mAh battery, Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC.
