Vodafone outs Rs 459, Rs 509 packs to counter Jio

Vodafone has let loose with 2 new plans for a select group of prepaid customers, with expanded availability likely coming about within the next few weeks. Both offer 1GB of data per day and are in direct competition with Reliance Jio’s rates.

Starting off with the Rs 509 pack, the scheme gives away 1GB of data on a daily basis, free local and STD calls, 100 SMSes per day, and free roaming outgoing calls. It’s valid for 84 days and includes a 250 minute cap on the number of calls allowed per day. Any calls exceeding beyond 1000 minutes per week won’t be free.

Reliance Jio has a similar Rs 459 plan in place which offers 1GB/day, free calls, 100 SMSes/day, free access to Jio apps, and 84 days of validity. It even has a direct Rs 509 tariff which serves up 2GB/day and goes on for 49 days.

Vodafone

As for Vodafone’s Rs 458 deal, it has a 70-day validity. During that time, subscribers will receive 70GB in all, bundled calls, no-charge roaming, and 100 free SMSes. Again, the same calling restriction of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week apply. Reliance Jio is offering a similar deal with its Rs 399 plan.
