Sony launches Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium in India

The Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium have arrived in India and are priced at Rs 52990 and Rs 62990, respectively. The former will hit stores from October 23, while the latter can be bought starting from November 7. As expected, the brand has not launched the Xperia Z5 Compact in the country.

All three flagship handsets were first announced in September at the IFA. In order to entice customers, the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium are being offered with a free Smart Cover worth Rs 3500, redeemable from the Xperia Lounge.

Sony is additionally giving away Rs 4000 in the form of freebies with the Xperia devices. This includes a 3 months subscription to Hungama Play valued at Rs 750, Rs 1000 worth of Amazon Kindle e-books, access to Sony Music and LIV for 3 months, and Modern Combat in-game credits totaling up to Rs 780.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will be up for pre-booking at retail outlets from 25 October till 4 November. People who place an order for the phone get an MDR-EX31BN Sony wireless headset costing Rs 5490 for free. The company claims the smartphone is the only one in the world offering a display resolution of 4K.

The Sony Xperia Z5 shares an almost identical set of specs with the Xperia Z5 Premium, except it carries a smaller 5.2-inch full HD display and 2900mAh battery. Both handsets are being shipped with the company’s own Quick Charger (UCH10), which allows for 5.5 hours of usage after just 10 minutes of charging.
