Micromax’s Yu teases Yutopia the ‘most powerful phone’ in all metal

The Micromax-backed Yu Yutopia has been teased by the company for some time now, the latest one hinting at the body of the device. While little else has been confirmed, the company has opened up registrations for the device on its official website. Our best guess about the price is that it will be in the affordable range.

The teaser image was posted through the manufacturer’s Twitter handle. It declares that ‘true power lies in metal’, suggesting the Yu Yutopia could possibly be a full-metal device with chamfered edges. The brand seems to be taking jabs at Xiaomi and OnePlus with the statement ‘R.I.P Plastic and Sandstone’, since both manufacturers use the respective materials in their flagship smartphones.

Yu Yutopia Teaser

The Yutopia would be the first offering by the Micromax-owned company to feature a metal build. Earlier rumors suggested it would be out by October. CEO Rahul Sharma officially confirmed the name of the handset through Twitter earlier this month. He claimed the device is the most powerful phone on the planet and will be from India.

A smartphone termed as the Yu 5050, leaked back in September, appears to match the description of the upcoming Yu handset. It was spotted on export website Zauba and in an Antutu benchmark listing. According to the specs revealed, the phone is supposed to house a 5.2-inch display and be fueled by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor.

Rumored specifications of the Yu Yutopia at a glance:

– OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
– CPU: octa-core Snapdragon 810
– Display: 5.2-inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels
– Camera: 21MP rear, 8MP front
– Storage: 32GB, expandable
– RAM: 4GB/3GB

The Yutopia may also sport a 21MP main camera and an 8MP front-facing one. It could contain 32GB of internal storage. The smartphone might come in two variants, one carrying a 1080p screen and 3GB of RAM, while the other flaunts a 2K display and 4GB of RAM. Previous speculations suggested the price of the device was hovering around the Rs 20000 mark.
