Fresh out of the oven, the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P have been revealed along with their price tags for India and other countries across the globe. Accordingly, the starting rates for the handsets will be Rs 31900 and Rs 39999, respectively. Fans in the US will have to shell out as much as $379 for the LG-made phone, and $499 for the Huawei device. Google’s now-concluded press conference also saw the launch of its Pixel C tablet and Android 6.0 Marshmallow, apart from some smaller announcements.
The Huawei Nexus 6P is painted to be the more premium of the two new smartphones. Built out of aeronautical-grade aluminum, it is the first full-metal Nexus handset. Powered by Marshmallow, 3GB RAM and a 3450mAh battery, it sports a 5.7-inch 1440p resolution screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. A 8MP webcam can be found above the display, while the somewhat unattractive back panel shows off a 12.3MP Sony sensor. The Google-commissioned device embeds Qualcomm’s improved 2GHz 64-bit octa core Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor with the Adreno 430 GPU.
The Nexus 5X by LG has a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen with Gorilla Glass 3. It uses 2GB RAM and a 1.8GHz hexa core 64-bit Snapdragon 808 chipset paired with the Adreno 418 GPU. It flaunts a 12.3MP main camera and a 5MP secondary one. It runs on Android 6.0 and a 2700mAh battery. Both Nexus phones ditch the microUSB connector for a USB Type-C port. They also host Google’s Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor technology and are compatible with Project Fi. The last mentioned is an affordable mobile phone service combining cellular with Wi-Fi signals.
The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are already up for pre-order through Google Play Store for select countries including the US, the UK, Japan and Ireland. They will start shipping out towards the end of October. All buyers will get a 90-day free subscription to Google Play Music, while US customers will additionally receive $50 worth of credit for use in the app marketplace. The Android Marshmallow OS will be made available next week. With regards to streaming options, Chromecast Audio and a new version of Chromecast were also unveiled at the event.

The $499 Pixel C with its 10.2-inch display, 3GB of RAM, Nvidia X1 processor, Android Marshmallow and optional $149 detachable keyboard, is scheduled for release during the holiday season. We’re still to hear about the exact launch dates of the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P for India. The former will be out in 16GB or 32GB capacities, while the latter will arrive in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants.
Update: TechPP also dug up the cost of the other Google Nexus models. Accordingly, the 32GB 5X will sell for Rs 35900, while the 128GB and 64GB 6P will hit shelves for Rs 47999 and Rs 42999, respectively.
