Lenovo Z1 set to hit India on May 10

The Lenovo Z1 is all set to land in India on May 10 in what the company describes as the world’s first crowd sourced launch. Interestingly, the brand has dropped the Zuk moniker from the phone’s name for its local debut.

This makes sense for the company given the limited brand recognition the Zuk name could have had in India. The Lenovo Z1 already has a dedicated website extolling its features, so the only mystery remaining when it comes to the phone is its availability and price.

As expected, the Z1 will run on Cyanogen OS 12.1, a heavily customized version of Android 5.1 Lollipop. The arrival of the handset marks a big change for the open source software since it’s been exclusive to Micromax’s Yu in India up till now. The platform offers a number of unique features such as audio customization and PIN scramble.
