Lenovo Zuk Z1 International version will have Cyanogen OS

The Lenovo Zuk Z1 International version has made a switch to the Cyanogen 12.1 OS and will be released mid-October. The phone made its debut in China earlier this month with the company’s own ZIUI layered on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

In an official statement, the manufacturer clarified that the Lenovo Zuk Z1 International version would have the same hardware specs as its Chinese variant but come with different box packaging and Cyanogen OS. No price or release date for any country was announced. It currently costs $285 which translates to roughly Rs 18800.

The chances of the Zuk Z1 landing in India may be slim though. Micromax presently has exclusive rights to Cyanogen in the country. OnePlus ended up with legal trouble earlier this year because their handsets came pre-loaded with the OS. The brand parted ways with the software firm as a result of the scuffle.

The 4G-enabled Z1 is the first handset launched by the Lenovo-backed company. According to the brand, the smartphone is a success in China with over 2 million pre-orders within a week. Diving into its specs, the device has a 5.5-inch full HD screen and comes with a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C port.
