Micromax’s Yu Yutopia to be unveiled on December 7

After months of dropping hints, the Yu Yutopia is finally set to be unveiled at an event on December 7. The brand has started sending out media invites for the occasion, which is going to take place in New Delhi.

Past teasers for the Yu Yutopia have confirmed a few of its specifications. It’s supposed to contain at least 32GB of internal memory, which the company has pointed out is more than the minimum 16GB model of the Apple iPhone. It further mocked the US-based brand’s battery capacity, depicting the manufacturer’s apple logo with a low battery indication.

Micromax-backed Yu also took digs at Samsung, questioning how its flagship phone only has 3GB of RAM. It also took shots at the OnePlus 2, noting the phone did not support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology and only had a 1080p resolution screen. The latter could mean the Yutopia has a Quad HD display, which would be a 1st for the brand.

Another 1st is the possibility that the Yutopia is an all-metal handset. The firm had hinted as much in a teaser image which stated that ‘true power lies in metal’. Back in September, a phone dubbed the Yu 5050 surfaced in an Antutu benchmark listing and on export website Zauba. Rumors had suggested it could be the upcoming Yu handset.

If it is the same phone, the Yutopia may have 4GB of RAM, 32GB of ROM and a 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor. It might carry a 5.2-inch screen and run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS. The smartphone could also possess a 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing lens.

We’ll keep you posted on the price and specs of the Yu Yutopia once it’s officially launched in India on December 7.
