Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime now selling for cheaper at Rs 7999

The Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime has gotten a price cut worth Rs 500 from its launch cost, making the phone available at Rs 7999. It’s still being sold only through Amazon and the brand’s own site.

To refresh, the Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime was launched back in December last year. The handset is the company’s second Made in India product and was manufactured at Foxconn’s factory in Andhra Pradesh. The cheaper retail value should help it compete better with its rivals in the entry-level market segment.

While the official reason cited by Xiaomi for the Rs 500 drop is attributed to lower costs, it could also be the company’s move to make way for the arrival of the Redmi Note 3 in India. The firm had officially confirmed last month that the phone was launching in India but did not disclose when this would happen.

Xiaomi has also announced a special Mi Week over at Amazon which will take place from February 16 to 19. As part of the 4-day offer period, the Mi 4 can be bought at Rs 12999 instead of its usual Rs 14999 cost and the Mi 4i at Rs 9999, down from Rs 11999. Participants also stand the chance to win a gift card worth Rs 10000 courtesy Amazon, with one winner set to be selected per hour.
