The Xiaomi Mi 5 Gold Edition is all set for launch on April 29 in its Standard and High versions. Since the new color is not arriving on the Pro, its rear will be made out of 3D glass and not ceramic. So the gold colored Mi 5 can be bought in Standard or High variants, but not in the Pro specification, got it? Well, Xiaomi made the names more confusing than they needed to be and if you live in India, all you have to remember is that the company is only selling the base (Standard) model of its smartphone in white.
Just to clear the air – Xiaomi has built four main versions of the Mi 5. There’s the Mi 5 Pro with a glass behind that is painted in white ($400) as well as a variation in black with a ceramic rear for $416. Then there’s just the Mi 5 which comes in Standard and High flavors with glass backsides and four color options of gold, purple, black and white. The Pro series handsets feature the same specs as the other models, except for a couple of differences.
They have 4G RAM and 128GB storage, processor clock speed unmentioned. The Xiaomi Mi 5 Standard phone embeds a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with Adreno 530 graphics, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. The High version boasts of a Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked at 2.15GHz, Adreno 510 graphics, 3GB RAM and 64GB memory inside. India has welcomed the Standard model in white with 3GB RAM and 32GB hoarding space.
