WhatsApp finally lets you send documents

WhatsApp has rolled out a number of updates for both the Android and iOS versions of its platform. Users are now able to share documents through the app, a vital feature which has been in-demand for years.

Android patrons with version 2.12.453 of WhatsApp can send files by tapping on Documents under the Attachments list. Note that this only works if the person they’re sending it to has updated the app. iOS users with version 2.12.4 of the tool can share files as well. The company only supports sending PDF documents as of now, though this may extend to other formats in the future.

Another notable change in WhatsApp is a newly-minted Links tab next to the Media history one. The new space stores all the links which have been sent or received during a one-on-one chat. Each is divided into 2 sections, with the one on top opening the URL and the bottom half redirecting the user to the conversation it had appeared in.

Meanwhile, iOS consumers of WhatsApp will be able to zoom in on videos while its playing and choose from a range of solid color backgrounds. They’ll further have the ability to share videos and images from third-party apps such as Google Drive, Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive, instead of being restricted to just their device’s library.

Moreover, WhatsApp for iOS users can now see blue ticks in the main chat list itself. This is a relatively minor improvement, but should eliminate the hassle of opening a conversation to check whether a friend has read a message or not. Finally, individuals are set to be greeted with an improved interface for browsing media.

You can download the latest version of WhatsApp via the Google Play Store and iTunes.
