The flagship Vivo V5 with a 20MP front camera was unveiled in Mumbai today for a price of Rs 17980. That’s right, a mega high resolution FRONT lens for selfie enthusiasts. The camera app includes a special Moonlight Glow feature which basically has the LED gently beaming light at your face continuously as you snap a picture.
Vivo promises that photos clicked with the help of Sony IMX376 image sensor will thus give you the ‘soft radiant complexion of a supermodel.’ Pity the company didn’t ask for suggestions on other beauty filters it could have added to the camera app. Fill’erlip, Botox those Wrinkles and ‘Rase my Double Chin, come to mind.
There’s a 13MP one on the back for those of you who still make use of the main camera. In terms of sound quality, the V5 integrates an iAK4376 Hi-Fi audio chip for music lovers on the go. Other highlights include a fingerprint sensor and a Smart Screen-Split mode for multitasking.
The rest of the specs are not bad for a Rs 17980 phone. On paper, at least. The handset is powered by 4GB of RAM, an octa core chip from MediaTek and a 3000mAh battery. It runs on Android 6.0 layered with Vivo’s homegrown Funtouch OS.
There’s 32GB of memory inside along with the option to add 128GB of extra space by slipping in a microSD card into the slot provided for it. The usual connectivity options like 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth are also present.
