The OnePlus 3T’s Midnight Black edition is going up for sale in India today, about a week after it was announced. The phone is available in limited batches on the brand’s website and Amazon.
OnePlus hasn’t detailed how many units will be up for grabs. It’ll likely be a small number since it claims that manufacturing each device is a time-consuming process. The company is only vending the phone in its 128GB configuration priced at Rs 34999, same as the other color options.
To recap, the OnePlus 3T originally came out in Soft Gold and Gunmetal colors back in November last year. The company has apparently been working on an all-black shade for a very long time, which explains why it didn’t make its debut alongside the others.
The Midnight Black OnePlus 3T sticks to the same space-grade aluminum build but adds a 14 microns thick dark coating layer 3 times to get a smooth black color which preserves the feel of the metal beneath it. An anti-fingerprint finish is then added on top to complete the look.

However, OnePlus warns that micro-abrasions might occur after regular day-to-day usage without a protective case. In terms of specs, the smartphone has the same set of features as the other variants.
