Reliance Jio extends Prime deadline, debuts Summer Surprise offer

Reliance Jio’s thrown yet another curveball at its current and potential customers, extending the deadline for its Prime plan and launching a new Summer Surprise offer. The telecom brand claims over 72 million people have signed up for the former in a month’s time.

Jio is now looking to expand this number with its twin announcements. First off, the last date to sign up for Jio Prime is now April 15. This should come as a relief to people who weren’t able to subscribe to the Rs 99 service because of technical issues.

Secondly, Reliance is extending its Happy New Year Offer in the form of a new Summer Surprise offer. The latter gives away complimentary services for 3 months covering unlimited data subject to a 1GB daily limit, free voice calls, 100 SMSes per day, and free access to Jio apps.

In order to be eligible for the Summer Surprise deal, a person would have to sign up for Jio Prime and buy a recharge or postpaid plan worth Rs 303 or higher by April 15. If successful, they won’t have to shell out cash until July when their chosen recharge kicks in.

If a consumer has paid Rs 99 to become a Prime member but hasn’t picked a pack yet, they’ll have to choose a Rs 303 or higher plan to become eligible for the Summer Surprise scheme. If they’ve already paid up for a Rs 149 pack, they’ll have to recharge for Rs 303 to take advantage of the scheme.

The Rs 149 pack will subsequently be applicable in July and the Rs 303 in August. As for Prime subscribers who’ve already coughed up Rs 303 or more, they’ll automatically get shifted to the Summer Surprise offer.
