Apple’s Indian arm is feeling very smug right now considering the enthusiastic reactions to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus handsets’ midnight sale kickoff. What is the point of bearing the inconvenience of queuing up to lay your paws on the Apple iPhone 6 or any other gadget at midnight? You’d surely have to wait until the next day to show it off to your friends anyway. As for Apple, it’s finally learned to stop thinking of India as a market which cannot be stirred into excitement if the price isn’t right.
In Greater Kailash that is located in south Delhi, about 250 people were seen milling around four stores promising to kick off sales of the iPhone at midnight. As part of the publicity efforts, bean bags and free Redbull energy drinks were handed around, while a big TV ticking off the hours until launch was started up at 11.30pm, says The Economic Times.
Similar scenes of eager buyers crowding into Apple authorized outlets before midnight on October 16, were reported in other parts of India. Gurgaon’s iPhone 6 buffs were being wooed by a Starbucks outlet which remained open with the express purpose of catering to the crowd. Apart from Mumbai and Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai supposedly witnessed an ‘unprecedented rush’ for the handsets.
The 16GB, 64GB and 128GB iPhone 6 will ask you to shell out Rs 53500, Rs 62500 or Rs 71500, in that order. You can purchase a 16GB, 64GB or 128GB iPhone 6 Plus for Rs 62500, Rs 71500 or Rs 80500, correspondingly. The specs shared by both devices include a 64-bit A8 processor, Apple Pay NFC-based mobile wallet service, an 8MP iSight camera on the rear and so on.
