The Xiaomi Redmi 3S has been launched in China as the successor to its highly successful entry-level predecessor. There’s no word on when the phone will hit international waters yet.

The dual-SIM Xiaomi Redmi 3S is up for sale at CNY 699 (roughly Rs 7000) for the 16GB of ROM and 2GB of RAM variant. For those seeking more storage space, there’s a 32GB of ROM and 3GB of RAM version priced at CNY 899 (approx Rs 9000). Both models are expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot.

One of the biggest highlights of the new Redmi 3S is its fingerprint scanner, located on the back of the handset. It features a decent mix of specs for its cost and market segment. Top highlights include its huge 4100mAh battery and brand new 1.1GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. The latter is assisted in its operations by an Adreno 505 GPU.

As for its photography skills, the Xiaomi phone has been equipped with a 13MP main camera. The module is accompanied by LED flash, an aperture of f/2.0, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), and the ability to record 1080p videos. Even its 5MP selfie snapper can shoot 1080p videos.
