Following close on the heels of the ZTE Tania, the ZTE Kis is the second smartphone to be made available via Virgin Media. The handset will retail in the UK via the network provider’s affordable data plans.

Running through the principal specifications of the device, its front panel shows off a 3.5-inch HVGA display rendering a 480 × 320p resolution and 262k colors. An 800MHz chipset hidden within its chassis fuels all the operations. On the flip side, a 3.2MP autofocus snapper with 2× digital zoom is thrown in for some camera work.

“The launch of the ZTE Kis is a further demonstration of our commitment to building the ZTE brand in Europe and the UK across a number of price points and operating systems, which will continue with new devices throughout the remainder of 2012 and in 2013. It is also an example of our commitment to providing our customers with quality devices at affordable prices under the vibrant ZTE brand proposition,” remarked Wu Sa, Director of Mobile Device Operations at ZTE UK.

With regards to connectivity, options like GPS, tri-band, Bluetooth 2.1, WAP 2.0 and Wi-Fi options are ready at hand. The ZTE device houses 256MB RAM and an internal 512MB ROM. The internal memory can be expanded via a slot provided for a 32GB microSD card. Besides, a 2GB microSD card is included in the package. Built showing dimensions of 114.3mm x 61.6mm x 11.5mm, the device tips the scales at merely 120g. The Gingerbread OS runs the complete show, with no talks about any upcoming ICS upgrade.

The ZTE Kis UK price is marked at £49.99 on Virgin Media’s PAYG plans. It is already shipping via the official site and stores in the country.
