Sliding past beta, the Nokia Transport 2.1 app is now official. It has been tailored specifically to make public transport a breeze.

Users can find bus or train routes from their present locations to any other place in the respective city. The visual guide will provide a fair idea of the time required to get to the station or stop to board the corresponding vehicles. It is expected to display transit details along with precise arrival times for the intended destinations.

“If you’re looking to travel across town, but don’t own a car, public transport is probably going to be the best way to get there. The latest version of Nokia Transport that we introduced last month has now moved from beta to commercial release. Grab it today,” reads a post on the Nokia Conversations blog.

Once passengers alight from the concerned public vehicles, they will be guided throughout, till they reach the required location via Nokia Maps. Those traveling to the same places again can store the relevant destinations on the start screen.

In case of less popular routes and places, the ‘transport nearby’ attribute will display the nearest travel links. So far, the application enlists estimated route options for over 450 cities without time tables. This number is expected to increase in the days to come.

This free app rubs along nicely with the Nokia Lumia 710, Lumia 900, Lumia 800 and Lumia 610. Nokia Transport 2.1 can be downloaded via the Windows Phone Marketplace.
