The ZTE Grand X LTE (T82) has just been launched at CommunicAsia2012, with claims of being the first LTE smartphone operating on a single chip. It functions on the Qualcomm MSM8960 chip, which shows off improved 0.28nm technology for speeding up the mobile experience.

The company touts the single chip hardware to function better than other models out in the market. Basically, the build is expected to accelerate the browsing experiences and make for less power consumption. This Wi-Fi enabled handset feasts on ICS and functions on a 1.5GHz dual core processor under the hood.

“We are the first company to use the single-chip solution in a handset. The Grand series products are our high-end flagship offerings this year. ZTE aims to enhance its profile in the high-end market with the Grand series of smart terminals,” remarked He Shiyou, Executive Vice President, and Head of the Terminal Handset Division, ZTE.

The ZTE device follows a buttonless layout that’s along the lines of tablet PCs. There’s an 8MP snapper affixed on its exterior that offers 1080p video recording capability too. Besides, a front-facing camera facilitates 720p HD video calling. With a 1900mAh battery hidden within its chassis, the handset apparently renders a 100M maximum download rate. The fact that this cookie fits in just a single chip may set it apart from others that depend on more than one to render 4G LTE compatibility.

The ZTE Grand X LTE price and release date have not received a mention as of now. It will be up for grabs in Europe and Asia Pacific by Q3 this year.
