After months of anticipation, the Yu Yutopia has finally been launched and is set to be sold exclusively via Amazon. The flagship handset is priced at Rs 24999 and will be released on December 26.
The Yu Yutopia is made out of an alloy of aircraft-grade aluminum and magnesium. It’s powered by an octa-core (4 cores at 1.5GHz and 4 cores at 2GHz) Snapdragon 810 processor and an Adreno 430 GPU. Its 21MP autofocus camera can shoot 4K videos and is accompanied by a true tone dual-LED flash, OIS and a Sony Exmor RS IMX230 sensor.
The Yutopia has been blessed with a 5.2-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440p) IPS LCD display manufactured by Sharp and protected by Corning Concore Glass. It’s backed by a 3000mAh battery which is supposed to reach 60% of power within 30 minutes. The brand has also introduced a new Around Yu discovery platform which lets users search for preloaded services like buses and hotels within one window.
The Micromax-owned Yu has partnered with brands like Zomato, Ola and Ixigo in phase one of the tool’s operations. It’s looking to encourage people to begin using the feature by offering a 15% off coupon for the first, a Rs 100 discount for the second, and the chance to book a flight at just Re 1 via the third.

Even the Yutopia itself is being offered with deals like a Rs 1000 cashback scheme for SBI credit card customers and Airtel double data. The brand is further guaranteeing an upgrade to the Yutopia 2. It plans to let users hand over the current Yutopia and give a 40% cashback for it in return, provided it’s in working condition.

The Yu Yutopia ships with Little Bird earphones produced by House of Marley. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner on its rear surface which allows users to click a selfie via a single tap. The handset is now up for pre-orders through Amazon and can be bought on December 26.
