Yu Yureka, iPhone 6S rank on top for Google India searches in 2015

According to Google’s end of the year rankings, the Yu Yureka and Apple iPhone 6S are the most searched-for handsets by people in India in 2015. Flipkart grabbed the top spot when it came to overall search terms. It was followed by Amazon and Snapdeal at fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Yu Yureka was launched back in December 2014. The phone was sold via a flash sale model starting from January and proved to be very popular, selling thousands of units within seconds. The brand has since released an upgraded version of it dubbed the Yureka Plus. The Apple iPhone 6S was unveiled internationally in September and arrived in India a month later.

The phone struggled during its initial release period here, but improved its sales during the festive Diwali season. The third rank was taken up by the entry-level Lenovo K3 Note, another flash sale veteran which has become one the most popular handsets offered by the brand in the country, clearing out stock of the handset within a matter of seconds.

Lenovo had earlier stated it was looking to become the number 2 phone vendor in India. The company seems to have done well for itself in 2015, given that it has two other handsets in the top ten namely the A7000 at fourth place and the A6000 at the tenth spot. Its subsidiary Motorola has occupied two places on the list as well.
