Xiaomi outs Mi Band HRX Edition

Xiaomi has announced a brand new fitness wearable called the Mi Band HRX Edition in India in partnership with Hrithik Roshan’s HRX brand. It’s set to go up for sale on September 18 via the former’s website and Mi Home offline outlets. Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra will begin offering it from September 20.

The Mi Band HRX Edition will set buyers back by Rs 1299, lower than the Mi Band 2’s Rs 1999 cost. The two look very similar in terms of design, with the main difference being the HRX logo found on the strap. Even the duo’s specs appear to be the same for the most part.

However, the newer Xiaomi device doesn’t measure a person’s heart rate. This would serve to explain the price gap between the 2 options. Xiaomi also claims it’s improved the former’s pedometer algorithm to filter out unnecessary movements for more accurate step tracking.

The Mi Band HRX Edition will apparently last for 23 days before it needs to recharged. It’s also IP67 certified, meaning it can protect itself against water splashes, dust, sweat, and cosmetics. The wearable connects to smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0. Once paired, it’ll communicate notification alerts through vibrations and track sleeping patterns.

Users will even be able to unlock their handset if they bring their Mi Band HRX Edition close to it, skipping over the need for passwords and fingerprints. The device further does what most other fitness bands are required to do such as calculating calories and distance travelled.

You can buy the Mi Band HRX Edition via Xiaomi’s website.
