Xiaomi ‘Desh ka Smartphone’ set to be Flipkart-exclusive

Xiaomi is all set to launch a new handset which it’s teasing as the “Desh ka Smartphone” on November 30. The company recently revealed that it’s going to sell the phone exclusively via Flipkart.

Flipkart in turn has put up a dedicated page for the mysterious offering. The listing doesn’t reveal any specifics about the device of course, merely hinting at a handset with a long battery life through some sort of smart solution, likely software. There’s also some talk of smart multi-tasking.

The Redmi India Twitter account has been actively promoting the smartphone as well, touting its power efficiency. This at least confirms that the product is part of the Redmi series. The brand’s India head Manu Kumar Jain has also made it clear that this will be an affordable phone aimed at the masses in the country, so it should be fairly cheap.

Xiaomi’s least costly device at the moment is the Redmi 4A, so it follows that the handset it’s planning to unveil on November 30 is the Redmi 5A. That particular model came out a few months ago in China priced at CNY 599 (roughly Rs 5850). It packs an 8-day battery life on standby mode with the help of a 3000mAh battery and MIUI 9 optimizations.
