After Microsoft set the stage for Windows RT, tablets running the software will soon be churned out by Samsung, Lenovo, Asus and Dell. This particular Windows platform is expected to be launched sometime in October along with the Surface.

Claimed to be part of the ‘largest computing ecosystem in the world,’ Windows RT ushers in a new phase of tablets based on the ARM architecture. The software will be supported by SoCs tailored from well known chip manufacturers such as Nvidia, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.

“Windows RT begins a new era of ARM-based PCs, where we are working with our Silicon and PC manufacturing partners to bring a whole new set of innovations to market. In an earlier post, Building Windows for the ARM processor architecture, we focused on the detailed engineering work required to create Windows RT,” states a post on the official Building Windows 8 blog.

The tablets running this particular OS will tag along a lightweight build along with a long battery life. Another advantage is that these fresh devices will arrive with native support for components like USB, video or audio gear and proffer connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WWAN amongst others.

Windows RT will not just accommodate tablet form factors, but is optimized for touchpads or keyboards as well. The relevant new settings are expected to boost battery power and render the interface fluid due to integrated Windows 8 gestures.

It will sure be interesting to see Windows RT melded into tablets chalked out by Samsung, Lenovo, Asus and Dell.
