Water-proof Sony Xperia Z1 launched, brings 5” screen, 20.7MP G lens camera

Sony has confirmed the Xperia Z1 and finally we get an official confirmation about all the rumors, leaks and what not that have been keeping the device in the limelight for months now. Like most of the other recent Sony Xperia devices, it is dust- and water-resistant and will be made available in shades of white, black and purple.

As was speculated, the Sony Xperia Z1 is indeed graced by a Triluminos display with X-Reality for mobile and this 5-inch screen manages to render visuals in 1920 x 1080p resolution. Packed in a stylish aluminum exterior with dimensions of 144.4 x 73.9 x 8.5 millimeters, the device weighing 169 grams binges on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 and may receive an OTA software update for version 4.3 as well.

Coming to the cameras, the handset has been fitted with a 2MP webcam and its rear panel shows off a 20.7MP snapper. The latter boasts of features like Sony G lens, 8x digital zoom, 1/2.3-type Exmor RS for mobile CMOS sensor, image stabilizer, HD video recording capability and many more. A Bionz for mobile image processor engine has also been tossed in to ensure clear images by doing away with the blurry effect.

The 4G LTE-enabled smartphone is fueled by a 2.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor which seeks assistance from 2GB of system memory. And if potential customers think 16GB of onboard storage is not enough, they can choose to increase it further by inserting a microSD card of up to 64GB capacity in a dedicated expansion slot. The smartphone’s 3000mAh battery can cough up talk time of close to 14 hours.

The Sony Xperia Z1 handset’s price details have not been revealed as yet, but the company has confirmed that it will be made available across the globe starting this month itself.
