Watch Samsung mock Apple iPad Air in this ad for Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 [Video]

Samsung has named and shamed the Apple iPad Air in a new video ad which mocks the tablet on various points where it’s compared to the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. Some viewers are calling it snarky, some are saying it’s downright nasty and then there are those touchy Apple fans who are feeling hot and bothered by the commercial.

But no publicity is bad publicity, as someone famous once said. The fact that Samsung has scores of people talking about the advertisement is proof enough that it works for the company. The two points on which the iPad Air is compared to the Galaxy Pro is its thinness and multi-tasking inability.

After seeing the ad, some of you are probably wondering whether it’s legal for Samsung to blatantly name the Apple product. It is, as long as the company is making a point no one can disprove. The non-LTE Tab Pro is 7.3mm slim, while the iPad Air is 7.5mm deep. The former is capable of letting users access more than one task at a time, while the latter can do only one thing at a time.

The ad starts by describing the pencil shown in the first few frames as an ‘Extremely simple tool and extremely pointy…’ It goes on to display a thinner iPad Air hiding behind the pencil and then moves to the even skinnier Tab Pro 10.1 concealed behind the Apple tablet. After mocking the iPad on the two features we mentioned above, the narrator says he has decided to go with the Samsung gadget and the pencil and completely ignores the iDevice.
