Vodafone UK customers can now access Facebook on their mobile phones for free. Users accessing Vodafone’s mobile broadband service can avail this offer for an entire week, starting July 24.
Offering Facebook free to the customers is a part of Vodafone UK’s Free Friday series which was launched with the Free Mobile Internet in May, to mark the initiation of a flat daily rate of 50p to browse the mobile internet. It was then continued with Free Music Friday in June when Vodafone introduced DRM free music. This time the Free Facebook offer is the first one to last for seven days.
Users accessing Facebook through their computer or laptop can also benefit from this offer. Customers who use their handsets need not pay for any data while accessing Facebook. Other sites can be browsed at Vodafone standard rate of 50p per day for pay-as-you-go customers and customers without data bundles. Users employing mobile broadband to access Facebook will observe that their data counter will cease while they browse Facebook.
Free Facebook initiates Facebook text alerts from July 24. Vodafone customers need to sign in to Facebook.com and opt for the notifications they wish to receive as free text alerts. Users can respond to these alerts by text. However, these texts will be charged at the standard text rate.
