The Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite is now up for pre-order on the carrier’s official site and is slated to hit store shelves on May 15. It boasts of having eco-friendly attributes along with a decent set of specs.

In terms of hardware, the phone supports a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen on the front panel. All the operations are powered by an 800MHz processor and the Gingerbread OS. Sitting on the flip side is a 5MP camera and a camcorder with flash. In terms of connectivity, it features the mobile hotspot capability that can support up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices.

“With the introduction of LG Optimus Elite, we felt it was critical to continue our eco-friendly-focused partnership with Sprint, and by extension, Virgin Mobile USA. It was important to both us and our consumers that we offer a competitively priced, fully featured smartphone that takes advantage of the latest advancements in green mobile technology,” commented Tim O’Brien, vice president of marketing for LG Mobile, at the time of launch.

Moreover, it is NFC enabled to allow access to apps like Google Wallet, and is apparently the network provider’s first handset carrying this attribute. It is equipped with Box storage that offers 50GB cloud space and sharing for roughly $240 every year.

Coming to its environment-friendly side, the device claims to be composed from recyclable materials and is ULE Platinum as well as RoHS certified. The Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite pre-order price is marked at $149.99 and it will officially ship from May 15 onwards.
