turntable.fm For Android

The turntable.fm for Android app, a music streaming software, has finally been made available through the Google Play Store. This popular application has managed to make its mark on the web as well as the iOS platform, before knocking on the doors of Google’s mobile OS.

Though we agree there are a number of other applications that allow users to stream music onto their devices, what sets turntable.fm apart is its highly social approach. It can be used to listen to songs with friends or a number of other subscribers over the internet.

There are virtual rooms in the application, wherein the DJs take turns to play a song of their choice. Every member of the room can hear the song played by others. They are also required to vote for the tracks as either awesome or lame. If a large number of people feel the number is lame, it automatically gets skipped from the playlist.

Moreover, it has an option to become a fan of particular DJs for instant access to their music. It seems like a good platform to discover new music. Users can also chat with their friends or members in the room from inside the application. Currently, the app is facing glitches related to the chat function, according to The Verge. Hopefully, it will soon be done away with via an update.

The turntable.fm for Android app can now be downloaded for free through the Google Play Store on devices running Android 2.2 or higher.
