US Cellular to launch Android based HTC Merge, LG Genesis

US Cellular’s smartphone clan gets two new entrants, the HTC Merge and LG Genesis, exclusive to the carrier. These Android-powered smartphones come with cool features and access to countless apps.

The Merge is a Global Ready smartphone which makes staying in touch with friends and family easier even while travelling, irrespective of the continent and time zone. Its 3.8-inch touchscreen and slide out QWERTY keypad uncomplicate the use of social networking websites, texting, web browsing and accessing e-mails. The keypad can be switched to 18 different languages. It consists of a customizable quick key in order to program functions like an app, website, media player or contacts. Besides, it also has 5.0 megapixel camera, GPS, 720p video recorder and Adobe Flash 10.1.

The Genesis takes texting to the next level with two touchscreens, enabling handsfree messaging through voice or a virtual QWERTY keypad using swipe technology. A slide-out keypad paired with a 3.2-inch touchscreen quickens texting or accessing the web. The smartphone comes with a built-in 5.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus and zoom functions with a storage memory of 32GB.

Both smartphones are equipped with the Android Froyo 2.2. The Android Market consists of more than 200,000 apps for users. These Wi-Fi hotspot capable smartphones come with 8GB memory card.

The HTC Merge and LG Genesis are available at a price of $149.99 each, after $100 mail-in rebate and two-year agreement.
