TDK HD Organic EL displayAn effective display, apart from good viewing gives the gadget just the right panache. TDK Corporation has begun the mass production of a newly developed see-through passive matrix type QVGA organic electro – luminescent (EL) display, UEL476.

Organic EL displays are made of thin-film techniques, which utilize the organic material that emits light in response to an electric current. These EL displays have high brightness, a wide viewing angle and other enhanced features that make the view relatively easy on the eye.

These displays also respond at a faster rate enabling their usage in flat panel displays. They work on the principle of passive matrix. The all new see-through type is designed specifically for the main display panel in mobile phones and other mobile devices. With a field angle of 2.4 inches, transmittance of 40 percent, and brightness of 150cd/m2, it can be used for most mobile apps.

As the name suggests it’s a see through display but it supports the privacy of the user. Content cannot be viewed from behind because of its construction. Additionally, it makes use of the color filter feature that utilizes the three RGB colors identically devoid of color shift. The display can operate through a wide range of temperature from -20 to +85 degrees C.

The efforts to widen the range to include different color products, a better precision and longer service life for all types are in process. The display is favorable for use in mobile phones; mobile electronic devices etc. requiring a QVGA color display.

The mass production of the See-through type HD Organic display by TDK has begun.
