Twitter web-based search now throws up photos, recent queries

While Facebook appears to be busy picking up ideas from Twitter, the micro-blogging website has come up with a few tricks of its own and given its web-based search results a facelift. Twitter understandably chose to notify its users about this development through a tweet recently.

The first few things that users might notice is that the search tool box will now show records of recently viewed content. The site speaks about social context which should save users the hassle of visiting an account’s main profile to know if they are following it as they’re typing their query. The feature now shows people’s association with the accounts, displaying whether a handle is being followed or not.

Twitter Update

Remember how the tiny box to the left hand side gave out brief information concerning accounts which are being followed by friends? Well, that has been moved into the search tool box as well and users will find it while hunting for something.

Alterations have been made to the search layout, with the company meticulously arranging the results beginning with the new People and Photos categories. The result page is dominated by user accounts under which are top tweets reflecting the topic. After this come a host of pictures in card-style layout followed by more tweets.

Card-like Photos

We doubt that Facebook will be going after this Twitter update, considering that it recently bumped up its Graph search.

To summarize, here are the update’s features at a glance:

– Addition of People and Photos to search results
– Recent search option included
– Relation with social context
– Pictures displayed in card-like layout in results
