TomTom App for iPhone updated, gets TomTom HD Traffic service

TomTom App iPhone 1.8We recently reported about TomTom launching its local search app for PNDs and smartphones. This time around, TomTom announces the newest update to the TomTom App for iPhone. Version 1.8 now includes the TomTom HD Traffic service which will enable drivers to gain access to accurate and up-to-date traffic data.

The service recognizes traffic conditions from both major and secondary roads within the U.S. It further helps drivers re-route their journey with traffic updates every two minutes, helping them reach destinations easily and quickly. Users have the option of planning multiple destinations in a single trip with multi-stop routes. The feature empowers them to fix five stop-off points.

Users can avail of updated maps which include alternate routes and recent changes to the roads. They’re also guided with lanes and offered a 3D illustration of the road for turns and intersections. With Google’s local search, users can find restaurants, shops and many other locations in a simple touch. Spoken instructions help users keep their eyes on the road while they drive.

The TomTom App for iPhone v1.8 is now available via iTunes at a price of $59.99. TomTom HD Traffic is an optional service available through an in-app purchase of $19.99. Existing TomTom users will be automatically upgraded to the service with no additional charges.
