T-Mobile myTouch 4G SlideNo sooner had the myTouch 3G handset from T-mobile launched, rumor mills had already started churning about the next phone in the series. Well, it’s one of those instances where hearsay moves to reality too soon and the new T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide smartphone announced recently looks way too enticing.

The key point of this smartphone, is its advanced camera which has a backside illuminated sensor, zero shutter lag and appears to present users with a feasible replacement for their point-and-shoot cameras. This 4G phone is available in two colors, namely khaki and black.

“Knowing that the best camera is the one you’ve got with you, we set out to create a new best-in-class smartphone that allows our customers to leave their cameras at home,” explained Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president, marketing, T-Mobile USA. “Our newest myTouch device takes capturing and sharing memories to a new level by combining high-quality smartphone hardware with features that customers would expect from a top-of-the-line digital camera.”

The 8-megapixel camera of this phone is embedded with interesting features like dual LED flash and a wide aperture lens (f/2.2). There’s also a SweepShot feature to take all-encompassing shots by sweeping across a whole scene in one move. ClearShot HDR, another feature of this phone, prevents pictures from being affected by lighting that is high in contrast.

The slider phone allows users to share their images and videos at 4G speeds, via a dedicated camera button while offering one-touch access to Flickr, Facebook or Picasa. It also comes with a full HD 1080p camcorder capable of audio recording and editing videos straight from the device. Endowed with a QWERTY keyboard and a 3.7-inch WVGA super LCD touch-screen display, this latest phone is powered by HTC Sense 3.0 interface and the Android 2.3 platform.

Running on the 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, users can anticipate effortless multitasking. There’s Group Text by Bobsled that allows users to send and receive SMS in a novel way and Qik powered Mobile Video Chat for those on the move. Staying connected while driving is possible by way of its handsfree mode via which users can give commands into the phone by talking and the device in turn will read out the important notifications of the day.

Users can, call, search for a business and surf the net with a mere press of the Genius Button which offers one shot voice commands. For real-time mobile video streaming, the phone comes preloaded with T-Mobile TV, Netflix and YouTube. It possesses a feature called the T-Mobile KidZone by which parents can control what apps their kids have access to.

The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide smartphone is put up for a price of $199.99 and is scheduled to be available from July in retail stores.
