Online course studies just seem to have got a little easier. Respondus Inc. has announced the availability of two mobile solutions for its StudyMate Class application which permits students to access interactive study materials from their online courses.
The first solution known as the ‘StudyMate LMS Edition’, is an iPhone application that allows students through to their online courses and sync their StudyMate projects with it. The application comes inclusive of the same ten activities that are a part of the StudyMate Class, like flash cards, quiz and challenge. The project data is synced everytime the application is opened, thereby allowing users to work offline as well.
David Smetters, President of Respondus, Inc commented on the solutions by saying that, “This is the year for mobile learning. Students want applications that allow them to learn on-the-go. Most importantly, these apps must be engaging, easy to use, and well-conceived for the mobile environment. Our mobile solutions for StudyMate Class achieve all of that, and more.”
The second solution for StudyMate Class is an improvement in the application itself. By using the mobile browser, users can log in to their systems and select a StudyMate project. The application detects the browser and the device from which the student has logged in and serves up their customized pages accordingly. StudyMate Class enables students to ‘master the basics’ of the course material through the learning activities, self-assessments and games.
The students can choose activities that make sense to them and fit their learning abilities. These activities are aimed at making students look at their course content in a powerful, individualized manner. Moreover, instructors can also use StudyMate Class projects with any subject and also allow students to create and edit their own study material.
The solutions are compatible with the iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and Palm Pre. The ‘StudyMate LMS Edition’ solution can be downloaded from the App store at no charge whatsoever. Furthermore, users may also use these study solutions on their iPod touch or iPad devices.
