Sprint has revealed two new models called Bold 9930 and Torch 9850, powered by the latest BlackBerry 7 OS. These are reportedly the first smartphones in the U.S. to operate on the brand new operating system.

The company claims that their handsets offer speedy and smooth performance owing to the latest Liquid Graphics technology. They run on 1.2GHz processors, are embedded with 5MP cameras and offer World Phone functions for travel to almost anywhere in the world.

The BlackBerry Bold 9930 smartphone is supposedly the slimmest phone from the company and incorporates a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a QWERTY keypad and a trackpad for easy navigation. It is capable of supporting Near Field Communications (NFC) and augmented reality applications via its built-in compass or magnetometer. The handset comes preloaded with the DataViz Docs to go premium suite for editing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files from anywhere. It also offers support for the BlackBerry Playbook with BlackBerry Bridge which is an app to be downloaded from the App World.

“Sprint’s incredibly loyal BlackBerry customers will appreciate the benefits of the BlackBerry 7 user experience on these two new smartphones – BlackBerry Bold 9930 and BlackBerry Torch 9850. BlackBerry 7 is an evolution that extends the ability to support our customers domestically and internationally as they juggle their busy personal and professional lives with one easy-to-use device. We are excited to continue our strong relationship with RIM through these new powerful devices,” said Fared Adib, vice president – Product Development, Sprint.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone equips a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a trackpad for easy navigation along with all the features which the Bold 9930 possesses. Both these devices run on Sprint’s 3G network and will allow the carrier’s customers to make and receive phone calls in more than 185 countries as well as access to BlackBerry data services like email, apps and web browsing in almost 150 countries.

The new BlackBerry 7 OS incorporates BlackBerry Balance which separates personal and corporate data. Thus this function helps users in looking after their corporate content in a secure and manageable way as well as use personal email, Facebook, Twitter, multimedia, games and other apps.

Although the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphones are set to arrive this fall, the exact details regarding their pricing and availability have not yet been revealed.
