Sprint Kyocera Torque release date for the US speculated to pop up this spring

The Kyocera Torque release date hasn’t been penned down as of now, but the 4G LTE smartphone is expected to make an entrance in the US through Sprint sometime this spring. The carrier had earlier introduced its foremost rugged device in December, but it now claims that this is the first time it has considered distributing an Android-powered sturdy handset.

Speaking of which, the Torque will be rocking the Ice Cream Sandwich OS out of the box. Kyocera has built it to meet IP67 and Military Standard 810G specifications. This suggests that the smartphone will function even after being dipped in 1 meter of water for around 30 minutes. It is also dust-, shock-, vibration- and salt-proof along with providing protection against various other factors.

The non-slip Dura-Grip material makes the phone easy to hold and provides a better clasp. A 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display makes use of the IPS technology in order to allow wider viewing angles. The OEM fits in a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which paces at a clock speed of up to 1.2GHz.

The 5MP camera that marches onto the rear, packs features such as panorama, high dynamic range, facial recognition, macro, burst mode and much more. Users will be able to undertake live face-to-face video chatting using the incorporated 1.3MP front-facing webcam. They will also find 4GB of inbuilt storage along with an expansion slot that supports a microSD card of up to 32GB, in addition to 1GB of RAM.

Coming to the connectivity features, the handset supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 3G and 4G LTE. And at the same time, the mobile hotspot capability allows the gadget to share its internet connection with up to 5 devices concurrently. A 2,500mAh Li-ion battery, a dedicated PTT button and dual Smart Sonic Receiver loudspeakers could be counted as other highlighted hardware components.

An accurate price and release date for the Kyocera Torque haven’t been sketched as yet. But, it is expected to land in Sprint stores this approaching spring. The carrier goes on to mention that even the cost of the handset may be out before the end of the first quarter this year.
