The Sprint HTC Evo 3D is creating headlines. This time around, it’s for pulling a disappearing act. The handset in question surprisingly vanished from the carrier’s official web portal where it was available for purchase.

There were a couple of theories doing the rounds where one hinted at it being mistakenly pulled off, while the other suggested it was removed to make way for the arrival of the recently announced HTC Evo 4G LTE smartphone. It appears that the latter speculation holds more water since a post on Android Police confirms that the device has indeed been dropped from Sprint online.

Individuals who were planning to lay their hands on the Evo 3D need not be pulling long faces since the smartphone continues to retail in Sprint stores. The disclaimer is that the device is only available in limited quantities. Just for refresher’s sake, the handset dons a 4.3-inch 3D touchscreen within its 126.1mm x 65.4mm x 11.3mm chassis and continues to chew on Gingerbread.

Powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor, the smartphone’s rear panel is embedded with a 5MP camera that captures 2D images, while 3D snaps are taken by it in 2MP resolution. The primary snapper is also capable of recording 720p 2D and 3D videos. There is a front-facing 1.3MP camera on this bezel that comes with 1GB of internal storage and also features a microSD card slot for folks sold on the 3D phenomenon.

The Sprint HTC Evo 3D price is stamped at $199 minus the data plans and it may currently be obtainable via the carrier’s retail stores across the nation.
