SpinVox converts Skype voicemail messages to text

Skype and SpinVox logo SpinVox and Skype have teamed up to announce the availability of voicemail to text conversion for all Skype voicemail users. The SpinVox will convert voicemails into text messages and send it directly to your mobile phone.

With the voicemail-to-text conversion service, the Skype users will not miss out any important calls from friends or colleagues. SpinVox will convert voicemail messages to text in four languages namely English, French, German and Spanish.

“Skype is the first internet communications software provider to deploy SpinVox, further reinforcing our position as the only provider of voice to text messaging services which are used daily by millions of people on five continents,” adds SpinVox co-founder and CEO, Christina Domecq. “Our user base has grown over twenty-fold in the last 12 months and bringing Skype’s voicemail subscribers on board will accelerate this trend.”

Whenever a contact leaves a message, the service will also provide a free email or a SMS notification to the users. If the voicemails are long then it will be converted in three text messages. In case the message does not fit in three text messages then the message will be cut off. Words that could not be understood will be converted into question marks or spaces in the body of the message.

If the last text message says that there is more content then users can simply sign into their Skype account and listen to the full voicemail message.

Each voicemail to text message conversion will cost $0.25.
