SPB TV now available on Android phones

SPB TV Android Android handsets are loaded with several functionalities and now Android devices have one more feature to flaunt. SPB Software recently publicized the SPB TV for Android phones.

SPB TV is a subscription-free mobile IPTV viewer that facilitates users to tune in to publicly available digital TV channels from across the globe. Android users can now access more than hundred international TV channels in over 20 languages straight from their mobile phone.

“SPB was always concentrated on supporting phone manufactures and mobile network carriers in building innovative and user-centric products and services. After porting SPB TV to a new platform other than Windows Mobile we got a favourable reception from the mobile market, especially from mobile operators. Now SPB is very pleased with the fact that we can offer mobile carriers an equal solution, a unique powerful application for Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android platforms,” mentioned Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, SPB Software CEO.

Prior to entering the Android arena, the company has provided services to Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms. The application features picture-in-picture mode and an innovative TV browser that presents a quick preview of channels along with a list of current and upcoming TV shows. Further, it also offers on-screen controls for sound and brightness just like on a regular TV. Users can also set calendar reminders pertaining to their favorite TV shows.

The SPB TV 1.0 is supported on devices driven by Android 1.5, equipped with HVGA screen resolutions. The application is available as a freeware version and a full version. The software needs an efficient 3G or Wi-Fi network connection for proper streaming. The full version will retail for $9.95 at the Android Market.
