Standing a class apart from the high-tech smartphones and tablets showcased at the CES 2012 is the SpareOne mobile phone which has been disclosed by XPAL Power. The highlight of this device is that it claims to keep its charge for 15 years and runs only on one AA battery.

The SpareOne is noted to be a dual band GSM mobile phone which provides up to 10 hours of talk time. It comes dressed in two colors namely, white as well as a combination of red and black. This handset can apparently maintain its charge for up to 15 years if kept idle.

“SpareOne’s breakthrough technology provides an unprecedented lifeline during dire situations that require an emergency response. By operating on a single AA battery, SpareOne solves so many daily issues, serving as a simple back-up phone you can carry without worrying whether it’s charged or not. It can be left in a car for emergencies, used by hotels who want to pre-program concierge numbers for guests, passed to your children or parents to maintain an open line of communication – it’s essentially designed to make and receive the most important calls, no matter what,” cited, Alan Cymberknoh, SpareOne Project Director at XPAL Power.
