Sony Xperia Tablet Z lines up for Android 4.2.2 update

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z had been promised an Android 4.2.2 update in the early weeks of August. Visibly, that didn’t happen. However, it looks like Sony has finally come around and begun rolling out the latest firmware version 10.3.1.C.O.136 to its giant 10.1-inch tablet. And even though we’re nearing the end of this month, the manufacturer doesn’t promise an upgrade for all. Eventually though, but not just yet.

Pushed forth solely for the Wi-Fi variant, the software update introduces a number of fresh features. There’s a new customizable navigation bar for instance, while the lockscreen and homescreen get their fair share of widget functionalities. Support for multi-user function is yet another addition made to the slab.

The Sony Media Apps’ latest version will form a part of the slate’s ecosystem, while my Xperia service has also been added in order to track the device in case its misplaced or stolen.

Well, the Xperia Tablet Z isn’t the only one being exposed to an upgrade. Declaring the Android 4.2.2 update’s availability through a tweet, the company has mentioned that the latest software has been made available for the Xperia Z Ultra as well.
