The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G is all set to be available at AT&T stores from September 18. This is said to be the only PlayStation certified smartphone in the industry.

Released earlier this year, the handset was made available through various carriers like Verizon, America Móvil, Telefónica Movistar, Vodafone, T-mobile and Orange all over the world. It is believed to be apt for those addicted to gaming as it offers users a collection of 150 optimized titles for downloading. Gamers can benefit from the wide portfolio of games that include popular ones such as Minecraft Pocket Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Dead Space 2.

“Xperia PLAY is the only true gaming smartphone and Sony Ericsson is creating a new and unique market category. Games are the most popular content for smartphones and Xperia PLAY users are at the forefront in downloading content. This presents a major opportunity for operators,” elaborated Steve Walker, Global Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson.

This gaming smartphone offers users’ access to Facebook and lets them share and discover games with friends. Christened by AT&T as Xperia Play 4G, it supports HSPA+ and is comes coated in an exclusive stealth blue colour. The handset will be available as a smartphone package accompanied by accessories like the Sony Ericsson multimedia Dock DK300 and MC100 music cable. It comes pre-loaded with seven games as well.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G will be available in AT&T stores from September 18 for a price of $49.99 with a two-year agreement.
