Smartron’s Sachin Tendulkar-inspired srt.phone hits India

Indian startup Smartron has officially launched the srt.phone in India and is now selling it online exclusively via Flipkart. The handset’s unusual name derives from the initials of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, a key investor in the company.

The srt.phone has been slapped with a Rs 12999 price tag for its 32GB variant and Rs 13999 cost for its 64GB one. Smartron claims the device was inspired by the dependability of Tendulkar. On that theme, it claims that the handset boasts of the best drop test results in its category. The firm also asserts that the fingerprint scanner can unlock the device in under 0.09 seconds.

Other key highlights include the srt.phone’s Quick Charge 2.0-enhanced 3000mAh battery, 13MP PDAF-equipped rear camera, unlimited tCloud storage, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. On the software front, the brand goes as far as to claim that users will be updated to the as-yet-unreleased Android O in the future.
