Having a unique handset that stands out from others could be a fantasy for a lot of people. Nokia has come up with a novel way of offering a reality check on this stance. A post on the official Nokia Conversations blog shares the results of a Cint study conducted on a global scale to check if people wish to glamorize their smartphones with unusual tones and colors.
As per 43% percent of users in Sweden, the color of the phone is immaterial. Around 39% and 38 % of USA and Switzerland participants, respectively, seemed to support this viewpoint. Respondents in China seem to be fond of sporting colors on their phones with a whopping 75% agreeing to the idea. Singapore and Italy too joined the league with 63% and 51%, correspondingly.
It appeared that these were personal choices and not general regional preferences. Another aspect that was dealt with in this survey was whether people really associate fun with a snazzy looking phone. 34% of the Indian and 31% of the Philippines populace seem to prefer the latter. On the contrary, 32% of people in Switzerland want their handsets to be simple and not appear conspicuous. Singapore doesn’t seem to be tempted over colorful phones, with over 24% vouching for a discrete gadget.
The aim of this Nokia study has been to shed off the cascade of black handsets and introduce some fun elements to smartphones with colors.
