SlingPlayer app converts Android tablets into TVs

SlingPlayer App

Released just recently, the SlingPlayer app by Sling Media enables users of the Slingbox to convert their Android tablet into a sort of TV stand-in. By connecting this new app with a Slingbox 120 or PRO-HD, users can watch their home TV on any Android tablet running on 3.0 or later versions of the mobile OS.

The application is incorporated with some decent streaming capabilities that reportedly deliver a high quality, rich video viewing experience. The app’s easy-to-use user interface presents an on-screen remote control that looks just like that on a real device.

Raman Venkatachar, General Manager and head of operations at Sling Media commented, “A Slingbox is the perfect accessory to an Android tablet. When combined with SlingPlayer, now anyone with an Android device can enjoy a beautiful, personalized TV experience anywhere in the world. With the Android market fast catching up, we feel this new state-of-the-art software will be a very significant value-addition to the user experience.”
