The recent Gulf of Mexico oil spill is still a matter of debate with reports about BP underestimating the spill range to the US demanding quick clean-up. Those keeping a tab on the environmental disaster might want to glance through Cellufun’s latest introduction. The company released the new Gulf Rescue game for mobile that intends to create awareness about the hazardous environmental impact of the oil spill.

According to the company, British Petroleum’s spill has led to over 500,000 gallons of oil being pumped daily into the Gulf of Mexico. In the title, players need to cleanup the oil contaminating the Gulf of Mexico. They will search the ocean for oil slicks and the beaches for oil tainted animals. They have a choice of either to rescue the oil tainted animals or clean the oil slicks. For the cleaning task, they are provided with several tools. Users can also invite their friends to join the clean up efforts via an SMS message.

Neil Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of Cellufun, remarked, “Cellufun, with games like Mobile Pets, Farming, and Made-Off, is a socially conscious, green company committed to doing our part to help with the gulf recovery efforts. Over the past few weeks, our members have asked several times for an educational game to spread the word on the recovery effort in a fun, light hearted way. Cellufun created Gulf Rescue to spread a simple message and create a fun donation option to fund the recovery effort,”

Special tools can be purchased for cleaning the oil more quickly. Cellufun looks at donating a certain percentage of all virtual goods revenues generated by the game to the Greater New Orleans Foundation. This foundation works as a channel for donations to help clean up the oil spill.

The Gulf Rescue game is available for free at m.Cellufun.com.
