Not much to surprise, Samsung eventually declared that the Samsung Star S5230 sales surpassed 5 million units just after four months of its official release. Samsung Star, a touchscreen mobile phone transcends 5 million this month. The touchscreen phone which was introduced in May 2009 is believed to be the fastest model to have transcended 5 million units in just four months.
The Star was first released in Europe, where one million of the touchscreen devices were sold off in the first month and a half alone. The company expanded its sales efforts across markets in Southeast and Southwest Asia, East-Central Africa, China, and Central America.
It is believed that Star was able to sell more than 700,000 units in May and crossed 900,000 in June. The company’s monthly sales in July and August were 1.6 million and 1.8 million, respectively. It is expected that Samsung will be exceeding 10 million unit sales across the world by November.
“We’re very pleased by this success,” stated Young-hee Lee, Vice President of Marketing, Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “We see the demand for touch screen phones increasing and we will continue to offer consumers a diverse range of products, supported by unique marketing campaigns.”
The Samsung Star has been well-received by people in Europe, where it surpassed 2.8 million units. With this level of success, Star has managed to top sales lists in markets such as France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Italy.
