Samsung microSD cards for 4G Smartphones declared

Samsung Logo Samsung’s 30nm class 32GB 3-bit NAND-based microSD cards now take a step ahead with a new improved version. Its enhanced version are the freshly launched Samsung microSD cards for 4G Smartphones with advanced data transfer speeds which claim to create the right performance requirements to support fourth generation (4G) smartphones.

The Micro Secure Digital cards’ class 10 speed rating make them apt for convenient data transmission and storage. The 20-nanometer-class cards with a capacity of 32GB are enabled to read at 24MB per second and write at 12MB per second. This apparently offers users more than two times the maximum write speeds of a class 4 rated 32GB microSD card.

“The industry demand for high-class-rated memory cards addresses the growing performance push for next generation mobile applications in more advanced smartphones including 4G models. As the industry adopts microSD cards with a class 10 rating, the superior data transfer speeds are expected to improve the mobile user experience tremendously.” explained Wanhoon Hong, executive vice president, memory sales & marketing, Samsung Electronics.

Each card includes 32GB 3-bit NAND flash memory chips along with a proprietary 3-bit NAND controller. The 20-nanometer-class cards have supposedly raised the productivity of the cards by 30 percent this year compared to the 30nm class cards that were released the year before. The company is expected to mass produce the 20nm-class 64GB 3-bit NAND designed on advanced toggle NAND architecture by early 2012.

The price and availability information of the Samsung microSD cards for 4G smartphones is currently not known.
