Samsung brings Mobile App Contest for Global Developers

Just a month back, the Samsung App Store was launched and to augment the applications in the Store, the company has now announced a mobile app contest for global developers. With this contest, Samsung aims to bring innovative applications for its smartphones.

The contest commences from today and will continue till December 10. Samsung is said to offer $330,000 as prize money for developers, creating new applications for Samsung mobile phones. Each of the top two winners will receive $100,000 booty.

“Through their active participation, Samsung hopes this contest will offer many opportunities to application developers. We want them to be able to profit from their work, while at the same time giving our consumers a rich variety of applications to customize their phones. Samsung will to continue to host many exciting events to further develop the Samsung Application Store,” stated Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Media Solution Center.

This contest is for Omnia II (I8000) and is open for applications in English and Italian. Further, winners will be able to maintain a continuous partnership with Samsung by means of a host of upcoming prospects, such as participating in Samsung’s mobile programmer support program.

It appears that the contest aims to drive interest among developers and attract new applications to fortify the content available for Samsung mobile phones. The winning apps will be made available for download on the Samsung Application Store.
